Labor Relations Institute was founded in 1978 as a consulting firm dedicated to maintaining the union-free workplace. Initially, LRI assisted employers with on-site campaign direction, developing all phases of NLRB representation election campaigns.

A Campaign Revolution
Recognizing the power, convenience and economy of video communications, LRI began producing custom video presentations for management in 1984. By 1988, the first edition of the NLRB Election Campaign Program was released. This revolutionary approach utilized a series of videos and a comprehensive campaign manual that allowed employers to effectively conduct their own campaigns without expensive consulting services. The program's success is unprecedented in Labor Relations industry. Now in its seventh edition, the constantly improved program has been used in more than 10,000 elections and consistently maintains a win rate of over 90%.
For the diverse demographics of today's work place, we offer an all Spanish NLRB Election Campaign Program. We have responded to increased organizing in the health care industry with a Health Care edition of our program that is designed to meet the needs of a job environment where it is difficult to hold employee meetings. We are proud to offer several stand-alone videos that address specific communication needs. Our Teamsters Report is a powerful video that takes the viewer on a historical journey of 40 years from Hoffa Senior to Hoffa Junior. To address the need to stop organizing activity before a petition is filed, LRI has produced two different card-signing videos The Union Authorization Card and Just a Piece of Paper? We are proud to have created what is becoming the union's worst nightmare: the Interview with a Union Organizer series. These videos can be used during card-signing activity or to provide the final knock out blow during a campaign.
The proper education of your supervisory team is the best way to avoid unionization. LRI offers video based training programs for both union avoidance and campaign training. Educated supervisors who know their role in union avoidance is your best defense against unionization. LRI has designed two comprehensive video driven training programs that utilize small group discussions along with role-plays, exercises and testing. Legal Counsel
We strongly recommend that any employer faced with an NLRB representation election retain legal counsel during the course of the campaign. Dealings with the National Labor Relations Board should be conducted only through or with the advice of an attorney. Campaign literature and speeches to the voting group should be reviewed prior to use for content relative to current board rulings. If you have not already retained an attorney, Labor Relations Institute will be happy to provide you with the name of one or more competent labor attorneys in your area who specialize in NLRB proceedings and who regularly conduct NLRB representation election campaigns using the LRI video program. There is no charge for this service.

Facilitator/Consultant
Many elections, especially those conducted in larger units, require a professional campaign facilitator or consultant. The facilitator/consultant functions as a full-time, on-site campaign director throughout the campaign period. Typically, this individual does research, develops literature and the content of employee information meetings, creates response literature, conducts supervisory training and debriefing sessions, provides voter profiles, and insures that the campaign stays on course. In some campaigns, the facilitator/consultant may act as the management spokesperson when dealing directly with voters.
In addition, this person is usually responsible for regularly briefing your attorney. If you believe a campaign facilitator or consultant would be an asset to your campaign, we suggest that you discuss this option with your attorney. Labor Relations Institute will be happy to provide you with the name of one or more competent individuals or firms in your area that specialize in NLRB elections and that regularly conduct campaigns using the LRI video program. We will only refer those individuals or firms with which we have enjoyed positive professional experiences and which have an exceptional track record. There is no charge for this service.
